Last weekend there was perfect weather for plein air painting. Constant light, nice temperatures. The buildings I painted are more than 90 years old.

I checked the place where I painted on Google earth. This is a screenshot from the district Berlin-Friedrichshain. I tried to show which buildings I painted.

A few days ago I spent sketching for two hours in Berlin-Mitte. I was attracted by the contrasts of shadows and lights.
river ship in Berlin | flussdampfer in Berlin
oil | öl; 24×30cm; 9,4×11,8 in; € 330,–

This is the sketch with ink pen and colored pencils. In the middle of sketching, the ship started for a trip, so part of this sketch was drawn from memory.

Today I found by chance a sketch I made on the baltic coast. After some hesitations I painted this oilpainting.
fisherboats on usedom | fischerboote auf usedom
oil | öl; 20×30 cm | 7,8×11,8 in; € 280,–
SOLD

My main interest were the composition of the boats. Sitting there, after a while I noticed the running gull shadows.

Yesterday was a sunny bright day. We decided to make a trip to a small zoo (Zoo Eberswalde) north from Berlin. This is a chabo chick from Japan. I made a few small sketches, to catch an idea.
chabo chick | chabo huhn
oil | öl; 20×20 cm | 7,8×7,8 in; € 250,–
Sold.

This is the small black and white sketch. I think it is very important to make sketches from the object you want to paint later. With this small sketch I got infected by the idea „chabo chick”.

Due to the Spree river, the canals and the big lakes in and around Berlin, ships were always a part of the transportation system. I painted these two ships in the heart of Berlin.
