The first week of November with a friend of mine, we spent a week in Mallorca, in Port Soller. This was my first paint trip. The island is still very lovely, especially in the inner part, far away from all the hotels.

Illustration for the »Vögels (Birds)«

I’m illustrating for a german bird magazin little stories about birdwatchers. Sometimes the editorial team mails me only a few sentences with the order to create an illustration. This time he story is about a hide somewhere in Sweden, stuffed with photographers. They are surrounded by hundreds of cranes, and lot of them are mating. And there was a guy, who shouted »Copuuula«, every time he saw a mating crane pair.

Found at least some time for figure drawings. These are the results from 3 sessions. Mostly A3 sized. I rediscovered the good old ballpoint. During my scool time I used to draw everything with a »Parker« or a »Bic«.

the harbour in Thiessow

At the end of June I spent 3 days in Thiessow. It’s a small village in the soutch-east part of Rügen – the biggest german island in the baltic sea. After finishing the painting, I realized that the right lower part in the painting is somehow empty. Back in Berlin, I added the heron.

fallow ground in Berlin-Mitte

As you can see, there are still wild places in the center of Berlin. Even not far away from all the government buildings. The building in the background with the big flags is the german Reichstag with a glass dome by Norman Foster at the top.

Steamship in Dresden

(Kommentare: 0)

More then 6 weeks ago I was in Dresden again. The old city is stuffed with old churches, cathedrals and tourists. During the paint process the steam ship disappeared for twice, so I had to paint it from memory and simplified it. I think the name of the church is Kreuzkirche.

oilsketch from a great black backed gull

Around the first weekend from July I spent a few days on the north-sea coast. I had the opportunity to paint seabirds and landscapes. I had my scope with me and sketched a great-black-backed-gull (Larus marinus), sitting around. Then I decided to try an oilsketch with the sitting gull.

Jungfernbrücke – the virgin bridge

The Jungfernbrücke (virgin bridge) – build in 1798 – is Berlins oldest remaining bridge. I was riding with my bicycle along the Spree and stoped at this painting spot.

The next hot day in Berlin. I found a hide under a tree with a good overview. This is another painting from the Spree river, a view to the Fischerinsel (fisher island) in Berlin-Mitte.
