chickens

from-moleskineframedSomewhere deep in the eastern part of East-Berlin is located a big park with a narrow-gauge railway runs by children. There is also a petting zoo with different animals. And they have these amazing chickens with black necks and tails. I made some sketches and photos. Last year I bought a black frame, so I thought to make a painting which will suit especially to this frame.

great-crested grebe

black-ternpodiceps-cristatuspainting-gearSouth-east from Berlin is located the Seddin-lake. There is a spot, where black-headed gulls, great-crested grebes and black terns are breeding together. I spent about 6 hours on a boat bridge not covered in the bright sun. My left face is now sunburned. Actually I wanted to sketch the black terns, but all these breeding grebes were good subjects of painting.

In the middle of April I invited 2 wildlife artists – Eugen Kisselmann and Robin Shillcock to Zingst for a paint trip. The weather was very sunny but cold with strong wind. It was a productive meeting with a lot of sketches and paintings. More to come…

Today, inside the protected area around Buckow/Nennhausen big hides are offering a good view over their mating fields. All these sketches are done in the first week of April.
