In the middle of november the weather allowed me to sketch outside So I took a little sketchbook and some pastels with me. I choose a place where I had a good view over some old buildings, partially destroyed during the last war.

Last weekend finally I made my decision to take my pastels for plein air with me. Soon I realised, that I needed a lot of middle, high-key tones, sunblockers and tick spray.
In the middle of June I spent 5 days painting on the the german island Rügen (Ruegen), the biggest german island in the baltic sea. All these paintings are from the south-east part, especially from Klein- and Groß-Zicker. Zicker is an old slavic name for tit (the small birds – Paridae). The polish name for tits is sikora. On two photos you can see my new painting gear – a so called pochade box, imported directly from Montana/USA. This is the »Bitterroot« modell. There is a guy – Ben Haggett – who produces these exceptional wooden boxes. It’s a real joy to paint with.
