During the last weeks there was not much time for painting. On my to-do list were some bird paintings. The barn owls was painted for the exhibition »Uilen op de Beeldenstorm« in Holland.

In the middle of June I spent 5 days painting on the the german island Rügen (Ruegen), the biggest german island in the baltic sea. All these paintings are from the south-east part, especially from Klein- and Groß-Zicker. Zicker is an old slavic name for tit (the small birds – Paridae). The polish name for tits is sikora. On two photos you can see my new painting gear – a so called pochade box, imported directly from Montana/USA. This is the »Bitterroot« modell. There is a guy – Ben Haggett – who produces these exceptional wooden boxes. It’s a real joy to paint with.

Somewhere deep in the eastern part of East-Berlin is located a big park with a narrow-gauge railway runs by children. There is also a petting zoo with different animals. And they have these amazing chickens with black necks and tails. I made some sketches and photos. Last year I bought a black frame, so I thought to make a painting which will suit especially to this frame.

On the last day from our painting trip, I managed to made these 3 small oils. The painting in the middle was the last one. I started with it, because there were still a lot of oil colours on the palette.
