While painting the white fishcutter in the harbour, the wind disappeared and suddenly hundreds small insects decided to inspect the freshly painted panel covered with wet oil colours. It seems that they were attracted by the turpentine. After a while I had to stop – it was impossible to continue with all these small insects mixed with the colors.
Here I’m showing 3 finished paintings from location. I positioned myself on the only road in both directions on the peninsula Alt-Reddevitz. While working on the middle painting, a lot people came by, may be more than 100. The main question they asked was: »I this your hobby?«.
The south-east part from Rügen is called Mönchsgut. The whole area is divided into four peninsulas. Long bays offer boats and ships shelter from storms. The whole area is perfect for landscape painting. I shot these photos during my latest painting trip there.
The first weeks of July were more than hot, no rain, no wind only heat. Not the best conditions for painting outside. I painted this small landscape south from Berlin, around Teltow. Oil on panel, 20x20cm
Finally I found time to update this blog. I prepared some paintings, sketches and photos from the last 3 months. I start with two watercolors and some photos from the Havel river, about 70km west from Berlin. There, in a very small village – Bahnitz – I had a two days exhibition.
