After Christmas I spent two days in Dresden. I thought I would give the weather a try. It was cold, windy and sunny. It was one of the shortest days in the year. During the painting process I saw the shadows moving!

My mother is living in this town, so I took the opportunity to make a plein air painting.

I painted during the afternoon, with strong shadows and sunshine.
Didn’t paint for a long time. There were some trouble at home. Today the whether invited me to make a plein air painting. I went to the Spree river on the former russian sector. The other bank is Kreuzberg – the former american sector. Today is October 3th – the german reunification.

Last weekend there was perfect weather for plein air painting. Constant light, nice temperatures. The buildings I painted are more than 90 years old.

I checked the place where I painted on Google earth. This is a screenshot from the district Berlin-Friedrichshain. I tried to show which buildings I painted.
Due to the Spree river, the canals and the big lakes in and around Berlin, ships were always a part of the transportation system. I painted these two ships in the heart of Berlin.
